MitoEAGLE Short-Term Scientific Mission
- Motivation letter
- I am employed as an associate professor at the Laboratory of Cellular Metabolism of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology. Since many years my scientific interests have been focused on mitochondrial metabolism, in particular concerning changes of their function and structure under conditions associated with a reduced response to insulin and type 2 diabetes. Nowadays thΔ main goal of my research is to characterize mitochondrial phenotype in human endothelial cells under various pathological conditions. High resolution respirometry techniques are commonly used in my research.
- Therefore my participation in the MitoFit Coaching days in Innsbruck would give me an excellent possibility to expand my knowledge of various theoretical and practical aspects concerning an investigation of the mitochondrial energy metabolism. Five days lasting practical training in the MitoFit laboratory will give me an opportunity to work in the best European cΔntre of respirometry with true experts in this field. Especially, it would be a great chance to discuss results of my ongoing experiments as well as leam new properly standardized protocols currently accepted in mitochondrial and cellular oxygen consumption assays. Moreover this training will give me a possibility to become acquainted with the newest technical aspects of the use of OROBOROS Oksygraf-zk. I am convinced that my participation in this training will translate into more effective use of respirometry in our study.
- Unfortunately, I am not able to cover the total cost of my stay in Innsbruck, thus I would like to apply for a financial support under the MitoEAGLE-COST Action CA15203 (i't Call for STSM Applications) which might make my participation possible.
