Sides

Description

There are many sides of side in our language system. Inside and outside are the sides that are separated by the system boundaries of an experimental system. + and - are the two sides of numbers separated by 0. Pages in books have opposite sides or front sides versus backsides. Many fundamental terms have opposite sides of the meaning, thus spanning the entire message in the space between their apparently contrasting sides, and transforming the paradox as a perspective into the unified whole, the full, the complete. On the other side, such fundamental terms are fully understood only after realization of the opposite sides of their meaning, which are frequently hidden treasures in the etymological origins of the word. It makes sense to open all our senses to comprehend the sunny side and the shadow side of things. Whereas the student sais "I see a black sheep", Zen replies "You see, that one side of the sheep is black". This is the message to consider both sides before choosing sides, besides overcoming a one-sided point of view. On the other side, look deeply inside things to see the upsides and downsides of every thing or anything, and even of nothing.

A small collection of opposite sides

# Word On one side On the other side
# unit Euclid's unit is the single individual thing. β€” Counting apples is different from counting pears. An SI unit (kg, m, m3, ..) for SI base quantities (mass, length, volume, ..) is entirely abstracted from anything, does not relate to any individual thing. β€” It is the same load wheather you carry a kilogram of apples or a kilogram of pears. It is the same load wheather you lift a kilogram of gold or a kilogram of lead, even if it may feel different.
# elementary entity Static elementary object. The number of elementary objects is a count. β€” I consider our party of two as an elementary entity. Nothing can split us apart. Dynamic event. The number of events is a count. Events per unit of time is a frequency. β€” We have regularly met at parties, at least once a month. I wish these parties would happen more frequently.
# sense The physical ability to use a sensory organ, to touch (grasp), see, hear, smell, taste. β€” Use all your senses. A general perception of understanding, not directly linked to the use of a sensory organ. β€” This does not make sense. He has no sense of seeing the two sides of things. I can smell that she was talking, in every sense, about the different meanings of the word.
# grasp, comprehend Touch, take into your hands Understand, appreciate
